It’s Not Me, It’s You: Managing Conflict On and Off the Road
Cerys Aedy (UK)
Communication is key. It’s a simple foundation for business and personal relationships alike. Yet time and time again, especially in current times where most interactions happen electronically, it can lead to a multitude of unnecessary drama and misunderstandings. Misread tones or emojis, short responses, late replies, just to name a few. Add to that a pinch of touring, a dash of urgent deadlines, half a liter of no time to yourself, and a full serving of loved ones at home feeling left behind, and you have a recipe for potential disaster. Then there is the internal conflict of guilt. Having very little choice in leaving to earn a living while you have a sick loved one at home can consume you. This doesn’t only apply to touring. Plenty of you, as delegates, have your home life and business life. Business life can leave you traveling or away from home for several weeks or even months a year. Or maybe you’re the one at home while your partner is jetsetting to this conference or that festival. Navigating just one of your lives (business or personal) can often feel overwhelming, even on the best of days, let alone making sure both halves feel stable.
