Touring the Americas: Peace Sells, But Who’s Buying?
Hey America...You good? Yes, all of you. North, Central, South. Things are seemingly a wee bit divided in your neck of the woods right now. I’m sure you may have noticed. Many acts are boycotting or canceling performances due to the current state of unimaginable and unforeseeable incidents taking place, particularly in the US. Even legendary bands are struggling just to feed themselves on the road. How is this affecting neighboring countries like Canada, Mexico, and Ecuador when it comes to bands’ reluctance or fans’ hesitation to cross a border due to media narratives and seemingly visible unrest? What do we need to know? Is it safe? Are tariffs affecting things? Are people scared to leave their homes? What are the costs involved in crossing the pond to play some metal? What if things all go to hell and you’ve invested thousands and the tour is cancelled due to war? Are they really going to check your social media? Are there even rules anymore and if so, do they apply equally to everyone? These are real questions and concerns artists and fans alike face when deciding the risk factors involved with coming to North or South America.
This is not meant to be a political debate, but rather an inside look from our panel of experts who can provide you with helpful information to help you make informed decisions for yourselves.
